Besides her husband of 43 years Gus Sandberg, Annie was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary Yanco, her brother & sister-in-law John and Fran Yanco, daughter-in-law Gloria Sandberg, grandson Shawn Sandberg and great grandson Ryan Neilson.

Annie was born "Anna" Yanco on February 17, 1922 in the village of Skuratovce, Mukacevo, Republic of Czechoslavakia. At the age of 10 she travelled by ship (the Montrose) with her mother Mary Yanco and younger brother John across the Atlantic landing in Halifax on December 3, 1932. They then travelled by train to Pearce to join Charles Yanco on December 22, 1932 on the family farm west of Pearce (still farmed by Son Eric and Grandson Dale). Annie attended school in Pearce.  Gus and Annie were married on December 3, 1942 in Lethbridge - Gus was working for the CPR  - in 1945 they acquired the John Tersteeg farm. Gus retired from the CPR in 1949 and in 1958 they purchased the Vern and Molly Sanderson farm and in 1963 they purchased Annie's parents farm. Annie and Gus retired to Fort Macleod in the fall of 1975 as Eric and Maryanne took over the farm. Annie remained in her Macleod home until her 80s and then resided in the Colonel Macleod Manors until she moved to the new Pioneer Lodge in January of 2019. Even then, she welcomed and loved her trips out to the farm.

On the farm or in town, Annie always had a green thumb with flower and vegetable gardens to be envied. She carried that over the Manor where she was considered the resident gardener for the flower barrels. Reading and knitting had been her hobbies also - grandchildren and great grandkids (and many others) were recipients of knitted baby outfits and receiving blankets at birth. Annie had been an active member of the Afternoon Unit of the United Church, the Rebekahs and the Welcome Mat. Also, one cannot forget her favorite pastime - cribbage. Many a game was played at family gatherings, the Legion and Welcome Mat. She so looked forward to the days John and Shirley Hester would pick her up to go play crib. Annie never stood still. She will be missed by family and friends.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to donate in Annie's memory may do so to "The Willow Creek Foundation" Box 790 Fort Macleod, AB T0L 0Z0 (Charitable receipts will be issued. Donations are used for the enrichment of Seniors living in the Pioneer Lodge and the Manors.)
