It is with a great sense of loss that the family of Jim announce his death at the age of 83. He passed away with his wife Wilma of over 61 years; his daughters, Karen and Christi, Reverend Judith Walker, and family friend Cheryl D at his side. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Wilma; daughter Karen (Kevin) and their children Sydney (Jordan) and Blair; daughter Christi (Robin) and their children Tyrel (Jessica), Trent (Jessica), Mitchel, Cale (Maddy), Dru and James “Kent”; as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Jody Lynn in 2012 and brother Alfred.
He was born in 1935 in Lloydminster, SK to newly landed Canadians, Fred and Annie Davison of Marwayne, AB. He moved to Calgary at the age of two when his father was diagnosed with tuberculosis. His parents remained there. Jim and his family moved in 1966 to work at Shell Waterton Gas Plant. Within two weeks of landing in Pincher Creek he said to his family “I will not move back to Calgary.” In Pincher Creek he became a volunteer for various organizations in the community. He was an active United Church member and Jim was honoured in 2004 with the title of Citizen of the Year in Pincher Creek. He greeted friends and strangers alike with a cheerful ‘good morning’ no matter the time of day.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pincher Creek United Church. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Windy Slopes Foundation (P.O. Box 2554, Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0) or to the Charity of One’s Choice in memory of Jim.
