The family of Leonard Green is sad to announce his passing on May 28, 2019 at the age of 81.
Leonard was born in Trochu, Alberta on October 23, 1937 to George and Ivy Green. He was raised on the family farm west of Pincher Station with six other siblings.
Leonard worked with heavy equipment in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan and in 1967 bought a ranch at Burmis. He ranched and operated equipment his whole life. When retirement discussions came up, he said he liked doing what he was doing. This was evident in the cattle he raised, whether it was purebred Charolais, or his commercial herd. Many hours were spent researching different breeds trying to get the right mix and in the end enjoying a good steak. He was always willing to lend a hand or a few words of advice.
Leonard met many people throughout his lifetime and was always quick to stop for a chat whether he knew the people or not.
He will be missed.
He is survived by his children: David, Sheila (Mike) Pratchler, and Roxann (Lee); grandchildren: Trent (Cara), Cole, Kyle and Cortney; as well as his great-granddaughter Rylee.
He was predeceased by his wife Claudia in April 2017.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pincher Creek Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Leonard.
