Welcome to the memorial page for

Peter Bergen

May 19, 1933 ~ December 20, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

PETER BERGEN beloved husband of the late Lona Bergen passed away in the Fort Macleod Community Support Beds Wednesday Dec 20, 2017 at the age of 84 years.   Peter is survived by his children Brian(Penny) Bergen,  Sean Bergen and Sherri(Stuart) Zoeteman and his Grandchildren: Michael(Tanya) Bergen, Ian(Jen) Bergen, Danette Bergen, Daylan Bergen, Justin(Desiree) Zoeteman, Brittany (Jared) Poytress and his Great Grandchildren: Dulcie, Ainsley, Raelynn, Miley, Ilias, Serenity, Daxton and Holly.

Peter is predeceased by his late wife Lona, daughter Lori, granddaughter Sarah, his father John Bergen, his mother Justina Bergen, his brother John Bergen, Twin brother Bill Bergen and brother-in-law Jake Hildebrandt and sister-in-law Martha Bergen.

Peter was born in Gnadenthal, Ukraine May 19, 1933. Peter and his family endured many hardships before and during WWII but in 1948 with help from an Uncle and Aunt already in Canada they were able to immigrate to Canada and settled in Coaldale.  Peter met Lona Nichols in 1956 and later that year they married and settled in Lethbridge.  In 1965 they moved to Granum and then in 1981 settled in Fort Macleod.

Peter was a kind hard working family man with an awesome sense of humor.  If you asked him what his greatest accomplishment was he would tell you getting his first class journeyman welding ticket but in the next breath he would say his family.  He adored his wife Lona of 46 yrs and was very proud of his children, Grandchildren, and Great grandchildren.  In the retirement years Peter loved to tinker in his shop and he could fix almost anything.  Peter was also known to love his back Alley excursions around town; he truly will be missed.    At the request of Peter, no formal service will be held.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fort Macleod Community Support Beds, P.O. Box 520 Fort Macleod, Alberta, T0L 0Z0.
