Abraham "Bunny" Segboer Obituary

Abraham (Bunny) Segboer of Fort Macleod passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the age of 86. He was currently residing at Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Bunny was born on July 29, 1933 in Macleod. He was the sixth child of Abraham and Maria Segboer and was raised on the family farm just north of Fort Macleod, which borders on the Howe/Roselawn district, which is also where he went to school.

On November 5, 1956 Bunny married Jean Philibert. After a short time residing in Fort Macleod, Bunny and Jean purchased the family farm from his parents where they resided until moving into Fort Macleod a few years prior to Jean’s passing.  In 1957 they welcomed their first son Dan and in 1958 Randy joined the family. In 1961 their daughter Diana completed their family.

Bunny is best remembered by his amazing woodworking craftsmanship, his creativity and his time at the Igloo and/or Diana’s Drive In Restaurant. He was an avid farmer who loved calving season, gopher hunting and getting together with the boys for a beer. He loved his grandkids and look forward to their visits so very much and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Bunny is survived by his son Dan, daughter Diana, daughter-in-law Patti (Randy) Segboer, sister Bette (Ernie) Abramenko, sisters-in-law Lorraine (John) Segboer and Devina (Clarence) Segboer, and 7 grandchildren Justin, Ryan (Sarah), Zachary (Andrea), Benjamin (Erin), Kaitlin (Shaun), Hannah (Dustin) and Thomas and 2 great-grandchildren Cohen (Justin) and Jaxon (Hannah)  and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Jean, son Randy, daughter-in-law Darlene, his mother and father, and brothers Jake, Pierre, Jack, Clarence, Pierre and John.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Bunny’s life
