Due to a childhood illness, Brian had special needs before it was a common term. Despite his challenges, Brian had a fulfilling life. He was born in Fort Macleod, where he spent most of his life, to R.G. and Margaret Charlton. He drove transport truck and worked in the garage for the family business, retiring in 1991.
Brian was also an astronomy expert, spending hours, no matter the weather, with his telescope. He was also an active member of the community, often seen around town buying lottery tickets and going for coffee. Left to mourn are sister Marlene, nieces Alexandra, Leslie (Kyle) and Diane, nephew Robert, sister-in-law Amalia, and extended family. He was predeceased early by his father Bert and later mother Pearl, brother Bob and family friend, Walter Hyssop. He spent his last days with a short illness at Extendicare and was grateful to all who cared for him.
