Carol Bruder Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected peaceful passing of Carol Veronica Bruder at her own home in Twin Butte, Alberta on April 25, 2023.

Carol was born to Joe and Vernie Bruder on March 5, 1948, the second of fifteen children. She started school, commuting on horseback with siblings, at New Yarrow near Twin Butte and finished at St. Michael's in Pincher Creek, AB. She attended Olds College for Design and then began working at Elna Sewing Centre in Lethbridge. She married Ron (Cheri) Brown in 1968 and together they raised their 2 children in the Lethbridge area.

Carol had an interesting and varied professional life: Professional Horse trainer, Barrel Racer and Horse Cutting Champion, Taxidermist, Reiki Teacher and Practitioner, and City Transit Driver, and many shared moments with the friends and family along the way.

Upon retirement, she returned to create her home near Twin Butte, with the help of her beloved siblings and friends, on the land she grew up on and loved so dearly. She renewed old friendships and developed many new ones. Here, Carol enjoyed working on her property, time with her horses, cats and dog, along with all animals, the nature that surrounded her home, and the many people that she loved sharing time with - whether on horseback, at a cattle branding, on a hike in the mountains or hills, a walk to explore the signs of spring, around a campfire, with her neighborhood coffee groups, a visit at the local store and restaurant/pub or home, at happy hour, playing cards, on a drive, a boat, or staying in touch over the phone. Here, she lived her dream life, loved to live and lived fully.

Carol is survived by her beloved, Cam Owen and family; her son Shane (Wendy) Brown and grandson, Richard (Haley) Brown; her daughter Vicki Brown and grandson Kade Brown; her siblings and their families and extended families - Ronald (Rhonda), Jane (Walter), Eric (Olga), Blaise (Linda), Myron (Evelyn), David (Bev), Rhona, James (Lynn), Paul (Chris), Carlos (Glenda), Steven, Tony (Lorraine).

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph William Bruder and Veronica Kathryn Bruder, brother, Kevin (Jan (Steve)) and sister Angela (Dennis (Ann)) and the many beautiful family, extended family, heart friends and friends she loved, who have gone before her. In her way, you were all so loved by Carol. Thank you so much for adding a word, a touch, a moment to her life and ours. We appreciate each of you so very much. Thank you, Kade, Jane and Charissa for your contributions to the writing and picture.

"Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near.

And, if you listen with your heart, you'll hear

All my love around you

Soft and Clear." - Charissa
