With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carroll June Young (née Wood) on December 1, 2025, in Fort Macleod, Alberta, at the age of 75. Carroll was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her four children: Rachelle (Michael) Sanderson, Wayne (Annemarie) Young, Beau (Lindsey) Young, and Meaghan (Jeff) Dick; grandchildren Joshua (Bailey) Sanderson, Taylor (Shelby) Sanderson, Tiana and Micah Young, and Aletheia and Haddon Young; great grandson Huxley Sanderson; also her seven brothers and sisters Lomai Wood, Murray Wood, Deirdre Fenrich, Ceire Barycki, Tara Wood, Reva Young and William Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carroll was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband, Wayne; son John (Treven), infant daughter Camille; parents Aubrey and Frances Wood; and infant sister Ruva.
Carroll was raised on the family homestead near Ruthilda, Sask., where she was immersed in the vigour and virtues of farm life. She attended school in Ruthilda, Springwater, and Plenty, Sask., and later pursued her passion for educating youth at university in Brandon and Winnipeg. Carroll’s life was full of rich and diverse experiences. She taught in several communities in Saskatchewan, spent twelve years farming grain, hogs and cattle at Ruthilda alongside husband Wayne while teaching in Plenty, and later moved to Alberta, where she continued teaching in several more communities. Throughout her life and career, Carroll was dedicated to nurturing young minds, raising and supporting her family, and remaining a faithful servant to the Lord. She was a person of many talents and especially enjoyed her passions of gardening, knitting, reading, and studying the word of God. Her soft heart and genuine kindness will be remembered and missed by all.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at the Fort Macleod Health Centre for the exceptional care and support they provided to Carroll over the last several months. Their compassion gave the family additional treasured time with her.
A service for the family will be held at a later date.
