Clara McRae

Clara McRae of Hillcrest, Alberta passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 26, 2022 at the age of 68 years.  She was born on June 29, 1954 to Archie and Patience Parsons in Vanderhoof, British Columbia and was the oldest girl in a family of five. In 1959, the family moved from Vanderhoof to a farm near Daysland, Alberta.

Clara attended grade school in Bawlf, Alberta and then moved to Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta where she studied to become a Registered Nurse. Her career included nursing in Edmonton, Saskatoon, and doing home care in the Crowsnest Pass.

On November 10th, 1978, Clara married Gordon McRae and they moved to Claresholm, Alberta. Gord and Clara then moved to Saskatchewan in 1980, where their children Blaine, Ramona, and Nolan were born.  In 1985, they moved back to Alberta and settled in the Crowsnest Pass.

When Clara was 10 years old she chose to dedicate her life to God and she stayed true to that commitment until her last day.

Clara loved sewing, cooking, shopping and flowers. She was always home when the children returned from school and they enjoyed her loving care.  Despite the various health challenges she experienced through the years, she lived life to the fullest and loved traveling to visit family and friends, and going south for warmer weather.

She was predeceased by her father, Archie, in 1967 and her mother, Patience, in 2017.

She is survived by her loving husband Gordon, and her children and grandchildren: Blaine (Wendy), Dannika McRae; Ramona (Joel), Deanna, Cameron, and Laura Byers; and Nolan (Leanne), Aidan, Daria, Alyssa McRae.

She is also survived by her stepfather Lloyd Rood, her brother Bob Parsons, and her sisters Jean Parsons, Lois (Wane) Duckett, Cheryl (Tim) Craig, as well as her nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the MDM Community Centre, 2802 222 St, Bellevue, AB. 

A Graveside Service was held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 4:30 P.M. at Fairview Cemetery, Pincher Creek, AB.
