Doug Wood Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Doug Wood at the age of 69 years, after a brief battle with cancer. Doug was born on March 2, 1953, the only son of the Late Gary and Sylvia Wood, and left us too soon on February 9, 2023. At his passing, he was surrounded by his family and friends, and most importantly the love of his life, Wendy.

Doug is survived by, and will forever be loved by Wendy and their fur-boy Gus! He is also survived by his sisters: Meredith (Roland) Kiddle, Kathryn (Ross) Blackmer, Beverly Wood, and Brenda Wood, his in-laws Tootsie and Barney Vik, sister-in-law Carrie (Tim) Valer, and brother-in-law Craig (Laurie) Vik. Doug also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren. Doug was a trusted and loyal friend, and will forever be remembered by them.

In addition to his parents Gary and Sylvia Wood, Doug was welcomed home by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his beloved dogs Diesel, Jack, and Rudy, as well as his nephew Taylor Kiddle.

Doug was born, raised, and lived his entire life in southern Alberta. Doug and Wendy’s best days were spent camping in the mountains, roasting a hot dog on the fire, fishing, and telling a good joke with Gus by their side.

As per Doug and Wendy’s wishes, no Service will be held at this time. At a future date, a gathering of family and friends will celebrate Doug’s life at a special campfire & hot dog roast!

Till we meet again Doug…you are loved.
