It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Best.
Born in Regina, Sask. to George and Pearl Best, he was the oldest of seven kids. The family moved to Pincher Creek when he was three, where he lived the rest of his life. A happy, high-energy kid who enjoyed hockey, baseball and riding bikes with his friends. Baseball was his favorite and he was a solid Blue Jays fan. He also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and trick or treating. On Halloween he could cover the whole town and then some, always willing to share with the rest of us. He was a good man and was always willing to help out. Even when it came to the many stray kittens he would find on his way home from school. Always willing to give them a home.
He was a hard worker and around the age of 12, went to work for a small dairy farm. He spent summers there as a hired man and loved it. He was often rewarded with his favorite dessert. He was good with numbers and after many different jobs he became a red seal carpenter. He worked on many projects in Pincher Creek, Waterton Park and surrounding communities. He enjoyed a cold beer or two after work with his co-workers and friends.
Life was hard after losing his wife Joan. She was the love of his life and meant everything to him. He lived life by his terms and did what he felt was right. In spite of his gruff exterior, we was a good man with a kind heart.
He will be missed by his son Wade Lunn, his daughter Tracey (Darcy) Fisher, his granddaughter Lauren along with his siblings, their families and his closest friends.
Rest in Peace Ed.
Cremation has been entrusted to Eden’s Funeral Home.
