Effie Van Rootselaar
January 8, 1932 ~ May 3, 2024
EFFIE VAN ROOTSELAAR, of Fort Macleod, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Fort Macleod Community Care Beds, with her family by her side, on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 92 years.
She is blessed with her family of; Bill (Rita) Van Rootselaar, Alice (Marty) Van Driesten, Rhonda (Conrad) Van Hierden, as well as eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two sisters, and seven brothers. Her mother and father, one sister, five brothers, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her husband predeceased her.
Effie was born in Nijkerk, Gelderland, Holland, to Aart and Aaltje Vandebeek, she was the middle child in a family of 10 children. Raised in Holland, she persevered through World War two, helped care for her siblings, and helped her mother and father with many tasks of daily life. As a young woman, she immigrated with her family, to Lethbridge in 1952, where she met her husband, Bert. Effie and Bert were married in 1953 and raised 3 children. Effie loved life and enjoyed family time in God's word, singing, bible study, church family, cooking, gardening, reading, mending, laying hens, kitties, caring and sharing her smile from a kind heart. Her life was dedicated to the well-being of her family, and she received incredible strength, faith, and trust in the lord. She read her Bible daily and received wisdom and a prayer life.
Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
A Viewing Service will be held at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 – 5 Avenue, Fort Macleod, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at Granum Christian Reformed Church, AB-519 & Range Road 260, Granum, on Friday, May 10, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM.
A Graveside Service will take place at Granum Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, following the funeral service.
