Emil Levesque passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Vista Village in Pincher Creek. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie, parents, Ansalm (Sam) and Cecile Levesque, sisters, Helen (Andy) Kunkel, Annie (Jim) Robertson, Yvonne, Evelyn (Hank) Parkin, Agnes (Walter) Oczkowski and his brother Leon. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Laura (Jack) Miller, sister Leah (Gib) Scott and numerous nieces and nephews.
He worked hard all his life, often holding two jobs. He started as a seismograph driller throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan then attended SAIT to obtain his automotive mechanic certification, working at Sorge’s garage. He later spent 23 years working along side Rosalie as caretakers of Canyon Elementary School. He was a volunteer on the Pincher Creek Fire Department and drove the ambulance for many years.
He also found time for his hobbies, creating wonderful things out of wood, from spiral staircases to decorative bowls. His workshop was well-known for his large inventory of parts and his ability to fix nearly anything. In his 90s, he crafted countless educational wooden toys for the Family Centre.
His true passion was fly fishing and he spent many happy hours casting on the nearby rivers and lakes, usually successfully, and was always happy to share his techniques with fellow anglers.
His great sense of humour and creativity will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass will be held on at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 958 Christie Avenue, Pincher Creek.
