It is with great sadness that the siblings of Fritz Hengerer announce the peaceful passing of our brother Fritz of Glenwood, Alberta on September 21, 2019 at the age of 76 years.
He is predeceased by his parents Lieselotte in 1966 and Wilhelm in 1984. He is survived by 5 sisters; Christa Knott, Katarina Wolbert, Mary Kittlaus, Ute Eremenko, Dorothee Kujath and 3 brothers; Joachim, Ulrich, and Rudolf Hengerer.
Fritz was born in Skaska, Germany on October 31, 1942. After the second World War the Russians invaded our home which left Fritz at the age of 2 ½ mentally handicapped.
The family relocated many times and then in 1955 immigrated to Canada. After working in the Sugar Beets for 3 years, our father started to farm. Many thanks to the Hutterians helping us along the way.
Fritz was a very hard worker and worked all his life on the farm. In 1995 he was able to return to his homeland Germany with much anticipation to be able to fly for the first time. After receiving his driver’s license in 1972, he enjoyed driving to visit family and friends. His favourite time of the year was Halloween which was his birthday, he loved to dress up and spook people.
He appreciated Susan for taking him to the farm many times and attending to his needs. Penny was a big influence in his life for many years. Thank you, Penny
He also made a special friend, Matthew while working at the Bargain Barn in Cardston.
Mathew wrote a text to Susan “Fritz was someone that changed me for the better and I learned so much from him. Things that made me a better support worker and a better man. Thank you for allowing me to serve him while he was still with us.”
