Ivan McIntee Obituary

Ivan Francis McIntee of Pincher Creek, AB, beloved husband of the late Julia McIntee, passed away peacefully at Pincher Creek Health Centre, on September 26th, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

Ivan was born on September 10th, 1937 in Pincher Creek, Ab to Edward and Juliette McIntee.  He was raised on the family farm on Christie Mines Road, southwest of Pincher Creek.  He attended Beauvais school, and later St. Michael’s Roman Catholic School.  In the early 1950’s he left school to work.  His first jobs included the Gulf plant, and the Alberta Ranch.  He then went to work at Sorge’s garage in Pincher Creek, obtaining his automotive mechanic’s license from SAIT in 1964.  He worked in Pincher until 1986, when he started his own mechanical business at his farm.  He also ranched all his life, even until his passing.

In 1963 he married the love of his life Julia Klovansky, and raised three children.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter all his life bagging his last elk at the age of 81 in 2018.  Another favorite pastime was playing horseshoes, becoming one of the best players in the Pincher Creek area.  He was in the Southern Alberta Summer games three times, winning two medals – silver and bronze, just missing out on the gold.  He also loved bowling and brought home multiple trophies through the years.

Throughout his life he was a hard working, strong, kind, fun-loving man, who was known to have a Pilsner beer or two, and loved socializing with family and friends. He was loved by all who got to know him, and was usually considered everyone’s favorite uncle.

Ivan is survived by his son, Wayne of Pincher Creek; daughters: Shannon McIntee (Glen Dippel) of Calgary, and Cheryl (Randy) Huisman of Bow Island; his Grandson Aiden Huisman; also, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Julia, son Shane, parents Edward and Juliette McIntee, sisters Beulah Valin, and Arnita Kunkel.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be a private graveside service for immediate family.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the family farm.

A big thank-you to Dr. Ruttle, Dr. Massel, Allison at the lab for the heartwarming banter and all the nurses and staff at the hospital.  You really went above and beyond for our dad during these difficult times.
