James Andrew Schile

After a lengthy battle with cancer, James (Jay) Andrew Schile passed away on October 7, 2020 in Fort Macleod, AB at age 74. Jay was born in Lethbridge, AB on December 17, 1945 to Frank and Margret Schile. He grew up on the family farm near Foremost, AB with sisters Betty-Ann, Renae and Susan, and brothers Kit and Wayne.  As a young man Jay struck out in search of adventure arriving in Fernie, BC, where he met Barbara Roberts. Barb, introduced Jay to the Kootenay mountains, the Elk River and the joys of camping; forming a lifelong adventure they shared together for the next 49 years.

The couple married on April 21, 1971 and relocated to Fort Macleod, AB in 1975. Along the way, they welcomed a daughter, Joy (Jamai) into the Schile family and over the course of years, Jay supported his family by working at Crestbrook Forestry Industries, the Pioneer Lodge, and Scougall’s Motors.  He was also a skilled handy-man and expressed his creativity through wood working, wildlife drawing, painting and crafting. Each piece as unique as its’ creator. Most of all, Jay liked to make people laugh.  He was always quick with a joke, and on occasion a good, natured prank.

A Private Memorial will be held at the Fort Macleod First Alliance Church on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2 P.M. All are invited to attend the service via live stream here

The family would like to especially thank the Staff at the Fort Macleod Community Support Unit and Dr. Beekman for their care and compassion in his final days.
