Obituary

James (Jim) F. A. Burns passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the age of 79.

Jim was born on February 27, 1942.  He was born and raised in Pincher Creek and was the second child born to James and Freda Burns.

In his high school years, he worked after school and weekends for the Pincher Creek Co-op Lumber and Seed division.  Later on, he became interested in tires and worked for Goodyear living in Calgary for a short time.  The small town called him back to Pincher Creek and he worked for Civic Tire and Battery.  When that business sold, he became a part owner and manager of Fountain Tire Pincher Creek and retired in September 1998.

He loved to curl in his younger years competing in bonspiels, cashspiels and competing in the Southern Alberta Curling playdowns.  His next love was golf.  He traveled to different tournaments and enjoyed golfing with his friends.  After Jim retired, he became a Snowbird and spent a number of years wintering in Arizona

Jim is survived by his wife Karen of 57 years; his daughter Rhonda (Chris); his three grandchildren: Tyler, Nate and Brooke; his siblings: Donna, Doug (Lynne), Gary (Jessie), Dennis (Hazel) and Larry; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter Deanna, and his son Brent.

There will be a memorial service held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pincher Creek United Church, 972 Police Avenue, Pincher Creek, AB.

For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Windy Slopes Foundation (P.O. Box 2554, Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0) in memory of Jim.
