On Sunday, September 17, 2023, Jason David Slingerland went to be with Jesus after a hard-fought battle following a motorcycle accident at the young age of 18 years.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Dave & Calinda Slingerland; maternal grandparents, Gerrit & Janet Van Hierden; paternal grandparents, Case & Rose Slingerland; his sisters, Candice (Colin) Slingerland, Rahne (Carter) Berreth, Darcia, Destiny, and Maddie; his little brother, Marshall; as well as his loving girlfriend, Shayna Martens.
Someone once said that you cannot teach a person to care; you either care about people or you don’t. Jason was one of those people who cared, no matter what. He always had a hug ready for you after a bad day. He was a true gentleman who had the biggest heart, the best laugh, and the warmest hugs. His big, easy smile and his charming, warms ways will be missed by all those who knew him.
He was the most loyal son, friend, brother, and boyfriend we will ever know. While 18 years wasn’t long enough, we are forever blessed to have shared that precious time with him and we will cherish the memories we have of him in our hearts.
Thank you, God, for the time we had with our beloved Jason, and we pray that we would all learn to love and care for others like he did.
We love you, Jay. ‘Till we meet again.
