Larry Dwyer Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Larry at Vista Village at the age of 85 years. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Charlotte; his siblings: Patricia Jensen, Jean Richards and Bruce Worke; as well as other friends and relatives. He was predeceased by sister Sally (Ernie) Betts, sister Iris (Ray) Wilson, brother Grant Harris, brother David (Wendy) Worke, brother Royce Worke, brother Clarence Harris and special brother-in-law Curtis Richards.

Larry grew up on a farm. He attended Pincher Creek High School and later Olds Agricultural College. He worked at many jobs over the years, building houses, working at the Gas plant and at the M.D. of Pincher Creek; he returned to farm with his father-in-law Henry Hammond where he remained until illness forced his retirement. Charlotte and Larry lived for a short time in Othello, Washington where he was a licensed crop applicator. They returned in 1970 to the farm. Larry and Charlotte operated the Three Rivers Rock and Fossil Museum for over 30 years. They spent many trips rock collecting with Henry. He loved to teach children about rocks and made many lifelong friends doing so. Larry was an avid basketball player and won three medals at the Alberta Games. Charlotte and Larry loved trees and flowers and grew many exotic trees on the farm. In his youth he collected coins, stamps and butterflys. One of the greatest joys in his life was finding his birth family and finding out that he was one of nine children. He served on the hospital board as a member and later on as the chairman.

There will be a private family graveside service held at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windy Slopes Foundation, P.O. Box 2554 Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0.
