Lawrence "Glen" Burrows

“I lived my life like this was heaven and now I am going home”

Lawrence “Glen” Burrows passed away following a brief and courageous battle from cancer on May 2, 2020. Glen was born December 25, 1949.

He was so proud of two things in his life – his family and his job. He liked nothing better than to have friends and family come over for great meals, a game of cards or dice. Better yet if they all came for a camping weekend, especially at the farm at Mountain View. He was developing a campground there for his own, to share with family and friends. The Santa Claus parade weekend was always a special time celebrated with as many family that could come home.

Glen was a hard worker and drove snow plow for 47 years, first for the government in Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass and Fort Macleod, then for Volker Stevin. He never hesitated when the call came to clear the highway, driving quickly to the shop in his little “winkin” feature car. Following retirement, Jackie and Glen Spent many nights in their 5th wheel, enjoying wherever the road took them. Better yet if it was close to a fishing hole!

Glen met and married Jackie Palmer on October 9, 1971. They recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. From this marriage came 4 children; Jason (Peggy) – Chloe and Lane, Wade – Megan and Taylor, Angie (Mike) Findlay – Myka and Shea, Jaime (Chad) Gray and Peyton.

Glen was active in the community, having belonged to the Lions club, helping direct the Santa Claus Parade entries and selling many Lions money calendars. He was a legion member, enjoying the meat draws, chasing the queen, crib games and always hoping for the elusive “29” hand. He worked at their roast beef suppers for the Trinity United Church for many years. Perhaps you enjoyed a slice of his cooked beef?

Glen had a great sense of humor and laughed heartily at jokes, even if the joke was on him. He would laugh so hard that his bald head would turn many shades of purple. John Wayne was his hero, owning many items of memorabilia and his many movies on VHS, DVD, USB sticks and was excited to watch them again on Netflix.
