Surrounded by love, Lorraine Margaret Loeffler, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Vista Village on March 9, 2026, at the age of 94 yrs.
Lorraine was born June 16, 1931, in Lake Lenore, Sask, to parents, Mathias Haensgen and Helena (Weber), along with a brother, Joseph, (deceased in infancy), two older sisters, Dolores (Ben Loeffler), Rita (Tony Mamer) and one younger sister, Alice (Joe Stannard Sr).
All her life she loved the outdoors and learned at an early age to help her dad with the chores and other farm work. Her mom taught her how to snare rabbits and shoot a .22 rifle when hunting small game. She also learned the more domestic art of bread making and cookie baking which she passed along to her children and grandchildren. Her lemon meringue pies and cinnamon buns were also highly sought after at any Bake Sale or Auction.
She fell in love and married Carl Loeffler on Nov 7, 1950 in Lake Lenore, Sask. They farmed in the Naicam, Sask area for several years and had three children, Marvin, MaryAnne and Therese (Sept 22, 1959-June 1, 1968) before moving the family to Alpine, Manitoba where they continued farming and became foster parents to almost a dozen children, 2 of which remained with the family into their adult years, brothers Ralph and Renie LeClaire.
They moved their family west to Lundbreck, Alberta, in March1971, and a year later moved to Cowley, Alberta, where her love for camping and fishing was realized. They spent many an evening together at Lees Lake fishing and camping at Dutch Creek in their Triple E trailer. Carl gifted her a Tilly hat that she wore until this day and anyone that knew her well never saw her wear anything else!
Lorraine later worked as a cook in Crestview Lodge until she retired. She would often cook a meal and pop it in the oven for the working men in the family and then go to work and cook all day! She was a hard worker and instilled that trait in her family.
She loved to garden and always had a large vegetable garden to share with family, friends and neighbors, until her last garden at the age of 90 yrs. She was up with the sun and had her garden hoed before it got too hot and there was never a weed to be seen.
Lorraine also loved crocheting and every member of the family, as well as many friends and relatives, own at least one of her beautiful and colorful creations.
Family was so dear to Lorraine’s heart and she was a loving and supportive mom (3), grandma (6), great grandma (15) and recently a great-great grandma (2).
Over the years her strong Catholic faith carried her through many trials and tribulations. She loved to pray and was always adding someone else’s troubles to her prayer list, asking for healing, or peace and comfort for those in need.
She moved herself into Crestview Lodge in December, 2018, where she spent her time doing Search A Word books often completing 3-4 in a week. She also loved watching Murder She Wrote, Columbo and Father Brown as well. She lived happily in Crestview Lodge until a fall placed her in Good Samaritan Vista Village in Sept, 2025, where she remained until her passing.
She was predeceased by her father (Mathias), mother (Helena), brother (Joseph), 2 sisters (Dolores, Rita), daughter (Therese), husband (Carl), and son-in-law (Maynard), foster child (Renie), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is survived by her son, Marvin (Millie) Loeffler, their children Jada (Chad) Leavitt, Keri Loeffler, and Lance (Angie) Loeffler, and her daughter, MaryAnne (Maynard) Cornish, their children Bradley (Jacquelyn) Cornish, Jeffrey (Kristina) Cornish, and Candace (Westley) Fullerton; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister Alice (Joe) Stannard, a foster child Ralph, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
