Born in Edmonton March 19,1941, raised in Coaldale until 7 years old. Mal’s parents Charles and Grace then moved to a farm south of Pincher Creek. Mal road the bus to school for several years until his family moved into Pincher Creek when he was around 11 years old. He completed his grade 12 education at Mathew Halton High School. Mal then went to SAIT for 1 year of agricultural school. While in Calgary he got his private pilot’s license and started his lifelong love of flying. He returned to Pincher Creek and started out farming and operating a small feedlot with his father. After farming for many years his love of flying resurfaced and he got his pilot’s license renewed and enjoyed flying over the Pincher Creek area. He became a large part of the Pincher Creek flying community and spent many hours out at the airport socializing with all the local pilots. Mal became an avid golfer and curler during his teen years. He spent any time that he was not flying out on the golf course or at the rink after he retired. Mal loved spending time with the family during any holidays he was able to, throughout the years. Mal liked to go camping when he was younger with his family and in his later years loved to come and spend time with the grandchildren while they were out camping.
Mal passed peacefully on May 21,2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 59 years, his son Glenn. As well as Glenn's wife Tiffany, and his two grandchildren Jessica (Kaleo) and Ian.
His family is sure he is flying amongst the stars now watching over all of us.
