Marjorie Hewitt

Marjorie “Marge” Louise Hewitt; loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor passed away suddenly on June 29th, 2023 at the age of 86.

She was the only child of George Hammond and Phyllis Gates born on July 9, 1936 in the Innisfail Hospital.  After graduating highschool in Innisfail, she attended Nursing Aid School at Calgary in 1955.  After graduation she worked in the Crowsnest Pass Hospital until 1958 where she met the love of her life Robert Hewitt. They were married on August 23, 1958. They moved to the Hewitt homestead north of Cowley where together they raised four children.

Marge became a member of the Livingstone Ladies Club in the fall of 1958 and continued to be an active member until her passing.  She was also a founding member of the Timber Trails 4-H Multi Club.  Marge loved to spend time gardening and helping on the ranch.  She loved having company and her house was always full of baking, homemade bread and a fresh pot of coffee.  She spent endless hours watching her kids and grandkids playing various sports. Most weekends were spent watching and writing times at teamropings and rodeos across Alberta, British Columbia, and the United States.  She was definitely the lady to go to check the times and where everyone was in the standings.

Marge was an integral part of the family ranch, spending time calving cows, haying, and raising every farm animal in addition to raising her four children. In her spare time, she crocheted and knitted.  It was very important to her that every child and grandchild received something she made especially for them.

Marge is survived by her husband Bob, and children Janet Michalsky, Richard (Charity) Hewitt , Joan (Bob) Neville, and Judy (Greg) Miller. Ten grandchildren Danita (Jeff), Melanie (Josh), Valerie (Tyler), Lyle (Rylee), Dustin (Kelsey), Tara ( Adam), Jared, Cole, Wyatt( Jennifer) and Garret(Natalie).  She also has 12 great grandchildren with one more on the way.  As well as numerous extended family members and countless friends and neighbors. Marge was predeceased by her parents, George Hammond and Phyllis Gates and son in law Garth Michalsky.

A Memorial Service was held at the Cowley Community Hall on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
