It is with great sadness, a heavy and broken heart that we must announce the passing of our young brother and son Michael J. North Peigan-Iron Shirt. He had passed suddenly and peacefully in his sleep, on March 31, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta.
Michael was born to the late Harvey Leon Iron Shirt and Amanda Kay North Peigan in Pincher Creek, Alberta on April 15, 1996.
Michael was very caring, loving and always looked out for his family, friends and relatives. He leaves behind his sister, Megan; three brothers. Johnny (Kynita), Byron (Delicia), Matthew; grandfather, Clinton Strikes With A Gun; grandmother, Myrna (Phillip) Red Young Man; his uncle's, Alfie Iron Shirt, Algo Ellen) Iron Shirt; aunt's, Melody Iron Shirt, Stephanie (Wade) Yellow Wings; great-grandparents, Mark (Blandine) Strikes With A Gun; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael resided on the Piikani Nation, where he pursued his education at Napi's Elementary School and Piikani Nation Secondary School, graduating in June 2017. Michael enjoyed playing basketball and hanging out with his brothers, cousins and friends. With a fresh start to life, he moved to Calgary with his uncles and brother. There, he joined Frozen Balls in the SML Calgary pool league, playing alongside his teammates Greg and Layton Norris, Jeremie Grant and uncle, Joe. Michael also started working and he was so proud of himself.
Michael is predeceased by his great-grandparents, Ernest and Bridget North Peigan, Margaret Plain Eagle, Clara Iron Shirt; grandmother, Sharon North Peigan; parents, Harvey Leon Iron Shirt and Amanda Kay North Peigan; aunt, Karen North Peigan; uncle, Danny Little Mustache; brother, Brent Harvey Iron Shirt; baby sister, Nadine Emily Dawn Iron Shirt; cousin, Travis Little Mustache; and numerous aunts, uncles and extended relatives.

A Wake Service will be held at Eden's Funeral Home, 2424 5 Avenue, Fort Macleod, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 11:00 PM
A Funeral Service will be held at Piikani Community Hall, Piikani Nation, on Monday, April 7, 2025, starting at 12:00 PM
Following the Funeral Service, Michael will be laid to rest at Piikani Nation Cemetery
