Monika Welby

Monika Welby, beloved wife of Leo Welby, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Coaldale, Alberta, on January 21, 2026 at the age of 84 years.

Besides Leo, her loving husband of 47 years, Monika is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Chris (Brenda), daughters Susan (Wes), and Angela. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Carolyn, Cameron (Darby), Alexxandra, and Victoria, and great- grandchildren; Theodore, Nolan, and Jude. She will be missed by Rocky, Percy, and Howie. Monika will be fondly remembered by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and family friends. If you met her you could not forget her. Her zest for life was unmatched.

As per Monika’s wishes, there will be no funeral Service. An informal gathering to celebrate and remember Monika may be held at a future date. If you’d like to honour Monika with a charitable donation, she wished to support the Arthritis Society Canada, or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
