Paul Murin 1934 - 2022
Paul Murin passed away on the morning of March 13, 2022 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Cleona, his 4 daughters Belinda McDowell (Allan), Wanda Murin, Tracey Neish (Brad), Paula Vanderzee (Jim), and grandchildren Christopher & Jeremy McDowell, Noel, Cale and Sean Vanderzee and Jordan Neish.
Paul grew up in Okotoks farming the area now known as the D'Arcy Ranch golf course. In 1959 he moved to Kipp, Alberta with his wife Cleona where he worked on his father's irrigation farm. In 1962 he moved to Pincher Creek with his wife and new daughter Belinda and began farming with his brother Joe. He and Cleona would have 3 more daughters and stay farming with Joe until retirement in 1994.
In his younger years, Paul loved to ride horses. He was an accomplished rider and at one point was invited to ride as an outrider at the Calgary Stampede. Once they moved to Pincher Creek, he enjoyed bowling and curling and was quite proud the year he won the Bunny bonspiel. After retirement he became interested in woodworking and made numerous pieces of furniture which have become treasured keepsakes by his daughters and grandchildren.
