Reba Grier

January 29, 1979 ~ July 4, 2023 (age 44) 44 Years Old

Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Reba Grier, announces her passing on July 4, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 44. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Barry Elias; son, Boaz Elias; mother, Avril Grier; sister, Faith Grier; brothers, Scott, and Joshua Grier; nephews, Julian, and Clark; and her only niece, Rhiannon. She will also be missed by her large extended family and friends.

Reba was born in Fort Macleod on January 29, 1979, to Stan and Avril Grier. Only a week after Reba was born, Stan was required to attend the RCMP Depot in Regina, Saskatchewan. It was this separation that was hard for her dad and was a foreshadowing of their strong bond together, making Reba the Daddy’s Girl of the family. After Stan passed away in January of 2023, only seven months from each other, Reba was very heartbroken and missed her dad a lot. During her dad’s funeral arrangements, she looked after every detail of his burial. Although we miss her, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Stan.

When she was younger, Stan and Avril had taken her on her first trip to Disneyland. With all the rides and candy, the only thing she had her eyes on was a Daisy Duck hat – unfortunately, all the outlets had sold out. The following year there was another trip to California and Reba was successfully able to get her Daisy Duck hat.

Growing up, Reba had always been a friendly person and made new friendships throughout the years. Her trips with her parents, like the Disneyland ones, had made her a person who loved to travel - whether it was travelling far, or just going for a drive. She loved life, and when she had her mind set on something, there was no stopping her.

Reba had attended many schools growing up, such as Piikani Elementary, W.A. Day, Old’s Elementary, D.S. Mackenzie Jr. High (Edmonton), and Harry Ainley High School (Edmonton). Before leaving Old, Alberta, her good friend Sunny wanted her to live with them and not move to Edmonton.

Once she got older, she eventually attended Norbridge College, where she met her friend Steven. Steven had invited Reba to visit him in Yellowknife, and her love for travel took her there. Little did she know, this is where she would meet her future husband, Barry Elias. Barry and Reba would eventually get married on February 18, 2012.  They would then have their only child, Boaz.

Her mom had dreamt of Reba the day she left us; she was healthy, slender, and had all her long hair back. Of course, she was laughing and talking. She was so happy and free, and Avril knew she was happy. While she is gone, she is finally healed and no longer needs to deal with medical conditions.

Reba will be missed. No words can express our family's loss, but we are comforted by the knowledge that she is with the Lord and reunited with her dad.

It is with great sadness that the family of Reba Grier, announces her passing on July 4, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 44.
