Richard Alan Plourde

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Plourde of Fort Macleod, AB, announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the age of 62 years.

Richard was born on December 17, 1961, in Invermere, BC, to parents John and Iris Plourde. He was the second youngest in a large family of eight children. Richard was an outdoorsman at heart. Whether he was hunting, fishing camping or boating, his connection to the outdoors was a source of tranquility and enjoyment. His passion for hunting and fishing has become a cherished tradition passed down through generations. In his youth Richard could be found playing hockey, baseball and jumping off the green bridge. He spent many years working as a truck driver enjoying the open road, he was a tactical learner and picked up many construction skills through mentors and worked as a handyman for many years prior to retiring from work. Beyond his adventures, Richard adored his children and grandchildren more than they will ever know. He was a loving man with a big heart, he could often be found helping others in need.

Richard will lovingly be remembered by his children Tara (Darryl), Nicole (Jesse), Cameron (Jamie), step daughter Kerie; grandchildren Chloe, Kaleb, Isabelle, Nate, Paris, Sophia and numerous other family members and Friends. Richard is also survived by his Mother Iris (Larry), Sister Gisele (Dave), Brothers Daniel (Heather), Michael (Toni), Ronald (Cathy), Marcel (Loree), Noel (Sherry), Derek, 34 nieces and nephews, 61 great nieces and nephews and two great great nieces. Richard will be remembered by many aunts and uncles, and long time friends. Richard was predeceased by his father John and nephews Riley, Aiden and Jamieson.

The family will hold a funeral service to celebrate Richard’s life with all the people that he loved and loved him at Eden’s Funeral Home on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow at the Catholic Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
