Ruth Mclenaghan

Quesnelle  --  Standing Alone

February 28, 1931 -- May 6, 2023

As Ruth now returns home to her Creator, she will be met in love and embrace by her parents, Henry and Louise Standing Alone; her first husband, Horace Quesnelle; her siblings, Andrew Standing Alone, Margaret Goodrider, Pete Standing Alone, Allan Standing Alone & Ada Fox; her son, John Darrus Quesnelle; her granddaughter, Amber Primrose; her grandparents and a great many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, adopted relations, and departed friends who have gone ahead before her.

In that place from which we all come and to which we all return, it will be a joyful day of reunion.

Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her husband, Carmon McClenaghan; her children, Karl Quesnelle, Henry Quesnelle, & Ellen Yvette (Richard Knife) Quesnelle; her siblings, May Weaselfat, Sophie Tailfeathers, Alfred Standing Alone, & Nita Wells; her grandchildren, Seven (Andrea), Nikki, Melissa, Kendrick, Dixon, & Kevin (Desiree) Quesnelle; her great-grandchildren, Drae, Felix, Jubei, Cereza, Faora, Payton, Karl Jr, Denny Jr, Skye, Rome, & Kelly; her great-great-grandchildren Mia, Liam, Laila, & Amaiah; as well as innumerable friends and relations who will all miss her loving devotion, helpfulness, compassion, generosity, optimism, humour, perfectly snazzy outfits with fancy hats, and all those old stories with punchlines of cusswords, not-quite-whispered, in Blackfoot.

We will dearly miss it all.

As we try hard to honour all she taught us and to be influenced in our lives by the examples she set, our grief will be eased to know that she will always be with us, to be remembered in the beauty of things both large and small. Our wife, mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend, Ruth will forever come to mind in the work-ethic of a good job done; in the cadence of the 23rd Psalm; in the satisfaction of doing what needs to be done; in a single berry offered up; in the joy of being helpful to others; in the sting of Jergen's lotion; in the quiet of a person listening without judgment; in a bugle on Armistice Day; in the pattern of turquoise Chief Joseph; in the relief of being forgiven; in perfectly starched crochet; in blooming gladiolas; in the fizz of Orange Crush and the dust from Hawkins' Cheezies.
