Sally was born into a big family, and she was the youngest. She was born in Pincher Creek. She attended St. Mary’s Residential School on the Blood Reserve and later attended F.P. Walshe High School. Sally was an avid reader, and it was her escape as a child as her family had no TVs.
Sally became a Licenced Practical Nurse and worked in the Pincher Creek Hospital and the Fort Macleod Hospital where she met her long-term friend Linda Rasmussen. She decided to take on a new challenge and she enrolled at the Lethbridge Community College. She went to the University of Lethbridge and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education. She loved being a teacher as she shared her knowledge, and stories with her students and her students loved her. She worked at Kainai High School, Piikani Secondary School, Kisipatnahk School, Maskwacis Cultural College, and the Ermineskin Education Trust Fund Literacy Program.
She instilled the importance of education to her children as all of them graduated high school and became hard workers in their fields. Sally was a great listener and enjoyed helping where she could.
The family would like to send appreciation and gratitude to Maskwacis Health Services, the Wetaskiwin Long Term Care, Dr. Gregory Chan, Dr. Jim Kim, Dr. Lee, and all the nurses she had contact with. Sally kept them on their toes.
A Wake Service was held at Eden’s Funeral Home on March 18, 2024.
A Funeral Service was held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Brocket, on March 19, 2024.
Following the Funeral Service, Sally was laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Piikani Nation.
