Venera Verigin-Jozsa

Venera passed away on July 9, 2024 at Rocky View Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Venera was surrounded by her family.     

Venera was born on January 10, 1963 to Michael and Doris Verigin. She was the youngest of three girls.     

Venera grew up in Cowley, Alberta. She attended Livingston School in Lundbreck and then the University of Lethbridge. There she earned a Bachelor of Education Degree. In Calgary, Venera met Mike Jozsa and the two were married and have been together 30 years.     

Venera was an excellent athlete. She excelled at basketball and volleyball. During her teaching career she coached many teams to the provincial level.     

Venera loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. That girl could two step! It was important to her to have and keep close connections with them.    

Venera was also very involved with the Doukhobors of Alberta. She took over many responsibilities in this organization. She worked to maintain the Doukhobor heritage in the Cowley, Alberta area. This would have made our father proud.     

Venera was a special, loving, and beautiful woman that will be missed by all. We were blessed to have her in our lives.     

Venera was predeceased by her mother Doris, father Michael, and sister Christina. She leaves behind her husband Mike, sister Liuba (Bill), niece Madison, nephew Brett, and grand nephew Halston.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 1:00pmat the United Doukhobors of Alberta Cemetery,Lundbreck, Alberta.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 3:00pm at theCowley Community Hall, Cowley, Alberta.
