Wendy Carpentier

On March 30, 2023, Wendy Ruth Carpentier died in Pincher Creek, Alberta, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 70 years.

Wendy is survived by her husband Terry Carpentier and her children; Nicole Carpentier, Rochelle Carpentier and her partner Jeremy Nelson, Sean Carpentier and his partner Shari Bailer; her grandchildren Kaylee Van Dale and Skyann Brecht.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Yakubiec, sister, Teresa Yakubiec and niece, Christina Hammer.

Wendy was born on January 13, 1953, in Pincher Creek, Alberta. She graduated from Mathew Halton in 1971 and went on to attend the University of British Columbia, where she graduated in 1973 with a diploma in nursing. Wendy was a nurse at the Pincher Creek Hospital from 1974 until 1987.

Wendy married Terry Carpentier in 1975 after meeting at Wendy's father’s birthday party. They welcomed Nicole in 1975, Rochelle in 1977 and Sean in 1979. Wendy worked on the family ranch with great passion. That led her to take on her neighbour, Shell Canada, and hold them accountable, making them better neighbours to the community. Her love of the land was only surpassed by her love of horses.

Wendy will be remembered as a true lady, kind, humble and giving.

An informal memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Pincher Creek Legion between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for anyone who wishes to drop in to see the family and reminisce about memories of Wendy. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
