William James (Jim) Stuckey Obituary

Jim was born and grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to parents Peter and Bernice. He went to Moose Jaw Tech and loved sports including baseball, hockey, curling, bowling and of course, football and his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The love of his life, Marlene lived next door and they married in 1958. They loved spending time together going roller-skating and dancing, spending time with their friends and watching the Roughriders play ball.

After graduation he worked for CP Express for three years and then started working for Gulf Canada.  In the fall of 1972, the opportunity presented itself for them to move to Pincher Creek, Alberta and start working for Shell Waterton Plant where he retired 26 years later.  During this time, they started their family welcoming Scott, Lisa and Sean.  Jim quickly became a seasoned hockey coach to his boys and loved watching his daughter figure skate. For many years the arena was their second home.  Their home always welcomed family and friends and many a road hockey game would spontaneously break out in front of the house.  The family spent many years trying to beat Grandpa in crib tournaments and card games around the family dining table. In retirement Jim and Marlene spent every morning playing a daily game of crib and various card games over coffee to start their day, working out at Joe’s Gym, bowling, curling and still cheering on their Roughriders and the Calgary Flames.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marlene and his children Scott (Tammy), Lisa (Colin), Sean (Lisa) and his grandchildren Tyler, James (Courtney), Rachel, Connor, and Drew.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Pincher Creek Hospital for the wonderful care and support he received in his final days.
