Beverly Anne Sorge, age 77, passed away unexpectedly in Lethbridge, Alberta, on August 4, 2026.
Born on September 5, 1948, to Edwin and Arnita Kunkel, Bev was raised in Pincher Creek, Alberta, where her deep roots and lifelong connections began. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wilfred Sorge, and the couple married on August 25, 1973.
Shortly after marrying, they moved to Coaldale, Alberta, where they started their family with the birth of their first son, Bradley. Following a brief period away, Bev and Wilf returned to their beloved home of Pincher Creek to settle down permanently. There, they proudly completed their family, welcoming their second son, Darren.
Bev’s life was defined by her immense capacity to care for others. Blessed with a warm heart and an infectious laugh, she spent years babysitting many of her nieces and nephews until they reached school age, becoming a beloved “Auntie” to many others outside her immediate family circle. Her passion for caregiving extended into the community through her dedicated work at the local daycare and her time cooking at Crestview Lodge, where she was widely known for her wonderful cooking. A woman of many talents, Bev also dabbled in hairdressing over the years, and wrapped up her working years alongside her sister, sharing daily laughs while working at the local Sears office.
Community and connection meant everything to Bev. She was a dedicated and proud member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, and TOPS, where she built lasting friendships.
Above all, Bev treasured time spent with her family, the beauty of nature, and the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for tending to her garden and spending peaceful hours working on puzzles. For over 30 years, the family made beautiful memories camping at the CWR Boat Club. At home, she could often be found sitting outside enjoying time on her deck or engaging in her favorite daily cribbage challenge with Darren. Bev’s gentle spirit, kindness, and joyful laughter leave an incredible mark on all who knew and loved her.
Beverly is survived by her loving son, Darren; her sisters, Linda (Thomas) Verleun and Judy (Ray) Narkaus; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-inlaw, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Arnita Kunkel; her beloved son, Bradley; and her cherished husband Wilf.
