Frank was born in Pincher Creek, AB to Frank Richard McLaughlin and Rosilie McLaughlin (nee: Biron). Frank is survived by his sister, Geraldine Metcalfe (John); nieces, Carolyn Metcalfe and Molly Powell (Turtle) and their children Layne and Rayna; his nephew Jay Metcalfe (Stephanie) and their children Tyler J. And Trent. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Julie Swanson, brother-in-law Chuck Swanson, and great-niece Teah Metcalfe.
Frank was a rancher and farmer in every aspect. He was truly at home driving his tractor whether it was haying or harvesting as that gave him an opportunity to contemplate life and the people around him. He particularly enjoyed branding where many of his neighbours and friends would gather for some hard work and then a relaxing time over a hearty meal. Riding on horseback or his ATV in the mountains among his cattle brought him untold joy and pleasure.
It may surprise some to know that this quiet rancher was a talented self-taught musician. Frank had a passion for music and spent many hours picking his guitar. While his music was quite often just for him, he did occasionally share his talent.. In the 1980’s he played in a band which provided entertainment in various pubs and other venues in the area. He loved his time in the band and people loved to hear him play.
He acquired many friends during his lifetime, but in recent years, none more dear to him than his neighbour & confidant, Cristina as well as his friend and helper, Bob. Frank will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 958 Christie Ave, Pincher Creek, on May 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
Frank will be inurned at a later date at Fairview Cemetery.
