George (Gysbrecht) Feyter of Picture Butte, husband of the late Pieternella Feyter, passed away following a heart attack on October 7, 2022 at the age of 94 years.
George is survived by his wife Martina Feyter (Spaans) in Grand Rapids, MI., and his children: Francois (Sieneke), Johanna (Clarence) Arnoldussen, Andrew (Jane), Peter (Andrea), George (Andrea), James (Irene); 26 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law in Lethbridge, Andy and Janny Wisse, and their children; plus Wisse in laws and many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Nellie (nee Wisse), 1997; son Adrian 1963; infant grandson 1975; grandson Joel Arnoldussen, 2003; daughter-in-law Stiena Feyter, 2012. George was the last surviving member of 9 siblings in the Netherlands.
George, and twin brother Pieter, were born in Aardenburg, Netherlands on January 19,1928. He immigrated with his wife Nellie and 2 small children to Milk River, AB in March 1951, and pursued a successful farming career, his dream since he was a very young school boy. In 4 years, he rented two farms in Picture Butte area, and then in Shaughnessy, and then bought his own farm on the Blue Trail in 1962, which he farmed until his retirement in 1988. Since June 2016 he resided at Bethesda Care Home in Picture Butte in very good health, and where he received excellent care.
A Funeral Service was held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday October 12, 2022 at the Fort Macleod NRC church with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Interment followed at the Fort Macleod Union Cemetery.
A luncheon was held at the Church Fellowship Hall.
