Lorraine Catherine Wilson (nee Sarsfield) of Fort Macleod passed away peacefully and surrounded by her children, on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at the age of 92. Mom was born in Weyburn, Sask. and raised in Lang and Viscount. Upon completion of her studies at the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate Institute, Mom joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed at CFB Rivers, Man., where she met and later married Corporal Jack Wilson. Mom and Dad were married for 58 years and together they had seven children, 15 grand- children, and 26 great grandchildren. Eventually settling in Fort Macleod, Mom poured her energy into homemaking and raising her family. She always had time for her children and grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed keeping company with them. Mom was always up for a laugh and delighted in her children’s antics (even as grown-ups). She was a curious learner and enjoyed lively discussion with her children, especially about current events. She also loved camping and a good cup of coffee. Mom is survived by her children, Janet (Melvin) Jones of Fort Macleod, Jacky (daughter-in-law), John (Gerri) Wilson of Lethbridge, Pat (Penni) Wilson of Lethbridge, Dave (Lisa) Wilson of Lethbridge, Christine (Mike) Wilson of Fort Macleod, and Matt Wilson; and her grandchildren Kari Favreau, Jodi Jones, Rachel Patterson, Mark Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Alyssa Schwab, Mike Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Abigail Wilson, Philip Hamilton, Phelicia Doberstein, Bradley Adamiak, Sara Adamiak, Holly Adamiak, and Lisa Adamiak; as well as her numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Evans and Iris Mills. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack (2010); son Hugh (2008); and sister Dorthy Udell (2017). Mom will be deeply missed and remembered for her warmth, gentle kindness, spunkiness, wonder, and terrific sense of humor. The family would like to thank Dr. Beekman, and the nursing staff at Pioneer Lodge and Extendicare in Fort Macleod for their wonderful care and kindness toward Mom over the past few years. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Macleod, with a private interment to follow this summer in Kelowna, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Macleod Handibus Society.
