It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Sher (Sherrill) Marie Westoby at the young age of 62, in her home on December 8, 2021.
She leaves behind her daughter Bobbi Foulds (Dave) and children Damon and Connor, her daughter Nikki Butler-Westoby and her children Destinee, James and Mary, niece Shawna Koch and her children Nikayla and Cameron. Many Aunts, Uncles, countless cousins, friends & colleagues will also miss her.
But a special mention must be made for Ed Best, Sher's partner, friend and dedicated companion, without whom life would have been almost impossible during the many chellenges over their years together. We will always be grateful for the care he showed her.
Sher was the youngest of 4 siblings, predeceased by her infant sister Shannon, her older brother Laurie and eldest brother Shawn, her father Cleve and mother Mary. Born in Edmonton on October 21, 1959 she grew to be a fiesty young woman who stood her ground. She wasn't afraid to voice her opinion, to stand up for those who needed help and fight for what she believed was right.
In her later years when her health and mobility issues kept her near to her home, she loved puttering her gardens and with her flowers, but as time went on those magnificent displays dwindled. Her energies were then spent lavishing love on her cats, visiting with loyal friends and family, chatting on the telephone, crossword puzzles and voraciously reading local newspapers.
Sher was a passionate soul and people either loved her right off the bat for her outgoing and sometimes outrageous personality, or they didn't. But one thing they all have in common is a respect for her determination and drive.
A cremation has already taken place and a Memorial service was held on Saturday, October 1 2022, at 11:00 A.M. upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion in Pincher Creek. A Graveside Service where her remains will be interred with her family in the Fairview Cemetery, Pincher Creek and a Reception immediately followed.
