Don Maclean passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2023 at the age of 68, with his devoted and loving wife Linda and two daughters Jenny and Mandi by his side.
He was born on April 7, 1954 to Alistair and Marion Maclean in Fort Macleod, Alberta. After Don graduated from F.P. Walshe High School, he went on to study civil engineering at the University of Alberta. His passion for science, knowledge and logic inspired those around him. As a Civil Engineer he was dedicated to excellence in his service to Alberta Environment. After retirement in 2012, Don devoted more time to his passions of time with his family, travel and golf.
In 1976, Don met the love of his life Linda. They went on to have 2 children Jeanette and Amanda. He adored spending time with his three granddaughters: Ashley, Maddison, and Whitney. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for his dry quirky wit, which brightened everyone who had the good fortune to get to know him.
Don was predeceased by his parents, his older brother Neil, and his grandson Jaxon. He is survived by his sisters Cathie (Jamie) and Alyson, his brothers Cam (Angie) and Scot, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial function will be held in Fort Macleod at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
