Gerald Beekman

August 5, 1948 - September 20, 2025

It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather Gerald Beekman at the age of 77.  Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years Rita and three children, Patricia (Marco) de Wilde, Richard (Stacy) Beekman, Henriette (Pieter) Wessels and their families including 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He is survived by siblings (Darlene) Beekman, (Greta) Beekman, Joanne Aleman, (Frank and Willy) Vanee, Elberta (Case) Gulliker, Judy (Hank) Barrs, Dini (Marvin) Burton, Gerrit (Evelyn) Beekman.  He is survived by in-law Aartje VanderWeiden, (Hennie) Van Middendorp, (Eefje) Van Middendorp, Lientje Beusekom, Nelly (Jim) Chymboryk, Bertha (Walter) Rosendal.

Gerald was predeceased by his son George Beekman and two grandchildren Moriah Wessels and Ayden Vandenberg. His parents Gerrit and Peterie Beekman. Elbert Beekman, Dirk Beekman, Gerri (Drikus) Vandenberg, (Don) Wesley, Pat Vanee and Dorothy (Merle) Houck. Also predeceased by Gijs VanMiddendorp, Drees VanMiddendorp, Arnold Beusekom, Corrie (Joe) Van Driesten,

Gerald was born in Apeldoorn, Netherlands to Gerrit and Peterje Beekman.  At the age of 6 Gerald, his parents and 8 siblings immigrated to Canada. Gerald was instrumental in helping start the family farm in Fort Macleod. Gerald attended the University of Alberta Bachelor of Science Agriculture.  It was after Gerald completed his studies he decided to move back to the original homestead and carried on with the family homestead.  Gerald lived his life understated and was completing projects until the day he passed.

Condolences will be held from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. D.V., at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 5th Avenue, Fort Macleod, AB.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, D.V.; at the Reformed Congregation of North America in Monarch, AB, with Elder Paul Wander officiating.

Interment following funeral service at Union Cemetery Fort Macleod AB.
