John Henry Dyck of Pincher Creek, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2022; at the age of 78 years at the Pincher Creek Hospital. John was the steadfastly devoted husband of Petra Dyck (nee. Siewert). Born to Henry and Judith Dyck in Coaldale Alberta on April 4, 1943, John later moved with his parents and siblings to Pincher Creek in 1949 where he grew up and lived with his wife and four children. John had a love of many things; his family, storytelling, traveling and seeing various places, fishing, golfing, and coffee with friends. His church and faith were also an important part of his life, even with a small nap in church he found time to share his faith with his family and friends.
John had a knack for chatting and interrupting people so that he could make sure they got the whole story. If asked how he was doing John would reply "Never had a bad day in my life, somedays were better than others." He prided himself on remembering names and dates. He loved to laugh and have fun and was willing to share his happiness with others. Besides Petra, his wife of 53 years, John is survived by his children Ramona & Karl in Lethbridge, Dwayne in Pincher Creek, Jason & Debbie in Red Deer, Troy, and Amy in Edmonton; and his grandchildren Ayrton, Sabrina, Kurt, Cory, Maddix, Tyler and Ella. John is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Nick and June Dyck, brother Gordon Dyck, sister Bev Janzen, and brother and sister-in-law Fred and Anne Dyck; as well as Petra's brother and sister-in law Wulf and Gy Siewert, brother Thomas Schulz, sister-in-law Connie Schulz and Hal Gallop and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. John was predeceased by his parents Henry and Judith Dyck; brother Henry, and brother-in-law Jake Janzen, mother-in-law Anneliese VonChorus, and brother-in-law Martin Schulz,
