Mrs. Loretta Joan Moses of Fort Macleod, beloved wife of Mr. Robert (Bob) Moses, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the age of 77 years.
Loretta was born in Fort Macleod, Alberta, on November 11, 1948, to Victor and Rose Jenkins. She was raised in Fort Macleod alongside her siblings Carol, Margaret, Eileen, and Calvin (Sonny).
Loretta met Bob during their school years. They began dating in 1970 and were married in 1974, sharing 51 wonderful years together. They built a life rooted in family and community, welcoming their daughter Brenda in 1977 and their daughter Colleen in 1980.
Loretta was a devoted and loving mother. She was the mom who made the crafts, baked the cakes and cookies for school events, and welcomed everyone into her home for holidays and celebrations. Many gatherings were shared around the homemade ping-pong table that doubled as extra dining space, ensuring there was always room for one more. From birthday parties and camping trips to supporting her girls in school, sports, and extracurricular activities, Loretta was always present. The family spent many cherished summers camping and boating at the Oldman Dam.
Throughout her life, Loretta worked various jobs in town, including the Treasury Branch and Sears. In 1983, she and Bob started their home-based business, Bob’s Plumbing and Heating. Loretta was the organized force behind the scenes, keeping both the business and family life running smoothly. Those who knew her knew she ran a tight ship.
After their daughters were grown, Loretta and Bob enjoyed becoming snowbirds, spending winters in Nevada and Arizona to escape the cold Canadian months.
In 2006, Loretta embraced one of her greatest joys — becoming a grandmother. She lovingly welcomed her grandchildren: Evangeline (2006), Lochlan (2009), and Caiden (2013), children of Brenda and Brian Vandervalk; and Alexis (2014), daughter of Colleen and Norman Beck. Loretta took immense pride in her grandchildren and found great happiness in the time spent with them. Whether watching them play sports, cheering from the sidelines, watching them toss a baseball in the yard with Grandpa, or sitting in a lawn chair as they ran through the sprinkler, those moments meant the world to her.
Beginning in 2018, Loretta faced significant health challenges. Through it all, Bob remained her devoted and steadfast partner, adapting their home, transportation, and daily life so they could remain together in the home they had shared for over 50 years.
In March 2025, Loretta and Bob endured the heartbreaking loss of their youngest daughter, Colleen, following a tragic epileptic seizure. Despite unimaginable grief and ongoing health struggles, Loretta’s love for her family remained at the forefront.
Loretta leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bob; her daughter Brenda (Brian) Vandervalk; her son-in-law, Norman Beck; and her cherished grandchildren Evangeline, Lochlan, Caiden, and Alexis. She will be deeply missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Having grown up and spent her life in a small town, Loretta was blessed with lifelong friendships that spanned decades. She treasured visits, conversations, and the comfort of familiar faces.
A Celebration of Loretta’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Senior Citizens Welcome Mat in Fort Macleod. This will be a come-and-go reception.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of the Fort Macleod Dialysis Unit, who became like family over the past eight years and provided exceptional care and support.
