Marion McGarva passed away in Pincher Creek on May 10, 2026 at Vista Village. Marion was 94 years old.
Marion is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) and her daughter Linda McGarva. She is survived by her brother John Duffield and her children Wayne (Bobi) McGarva, Ken (Prang) McGarva & Rita (Brandy) Kilkenny. She has 8 grand children and many great grand children.
Marion was born on December 10, 1931 in Taber, AB. Marion was adopted at the age of three by Mabel and Faye Duffield in Spring Ridge where they resided.
Marion attended school in Spring Ridge until grade 9 when she moved to Pincher Creek to finish high school. That’s where she met Bob. They were married in 1951 and raised their family on a dairy farm west of town. After the kids went off to school, Marion worked at Canyon school and then 22 years at the Pincher Creek Municipal Hospital where she enjoyed cooking and meeting many friends.
Marion has enjoyed many hours of volunteering over the years including: Girl Guides, Women’s Institute, Bingos (which she loved to play), many days at the United Church thrift shop and other functions. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, crafts, cards, gardening, camping and ‘story telling’.
At Marion’s request there will be no service – family will spread ashes at a later date.
