Paul Byron Nielson, a beloved son, brother and uncle passed away on 2 June 2026 in Fort Macleod, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
He is predeceased by his father and mother and is survived by siblings Lloyd (Eileen) Nielson of Denver, Myrle (Barney) Taylor of Strathmore, Norma (Ralph) Guenther of Oklahoma City, Darlene (Everett) Speidel of Edmonton and Joanne Nielson of Fort Macleod. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was born in Calgary, Alberta on 30 December 1951, the second son of Albert and Alta Nielson. He spent his childhood in northwest Calgary and excelled in High School football and track and field. In grade ten his lifelong interest in motorcycles began with the purchase of a Honda Dream.
He graduated from University of Calgary with BA Philosophy in 1977 and passed a motorcycle mechanics course from Fairview College.
He spent many hours playing his saxophone.
He suffered many years with illness and was advised that by the age of 70 new medications would finally enhance his health. He was kind, optimistic, loyal, and generous. His attitude was don't complain about your difficulties, deal with them the best you can.
The internment will be held at the Orton Cemetery on Friday June 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Macleod, at 4:30 p.m.
