It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robbie Gillis, who passed away peacefully in Pincher Creek, Alberta.
Robbie’s life was one of adventure, courage, and unforgettable stories. Born on a train in Quebec, he lived a life unlike most. As a young man, he proudly served as a paratrooper, embracing the thrill of jumping from airplanes. He loved sharing stories of his six months traveling through New Zealand and his time driving for the legendary rock band ZZ Top, adventures that reflected his free spirit and love of life.
Those who knew Robbie will remember his warm smile, his gift for storytelling, and his ability to make every conversation memorable. He had a way of turning life’s experiences into tales that captivated everyone around him.
In his later years, Robbie found love, friendship, and belonging with his chosen family, Lisa, and Nyree who cared for him with compassion and became his greatest source of comfort. Their love and devotion brought him peace and happiness, and they will forever cherish the memories they shared together.
Robbie lived life on his own terms—with courage, humour, and an adventurous heart. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now with his beloved Doris in heaven.
“Blue skies and soft landings.”
